Saturday was another busy day in my kitchen. Busy trying new things out of my cook book! I had decided a few days ago that I was going to try the Sour Cream Cherry Pie recipe that is in my cook book, since I had some cherries in my freezer that I had to use up. I ended up making two - one for us, and one for my neighbours.
It has a graham cracker crust, which I'm not too fond of... It tastes good, but it's almost too hard to cut. Well, at least on the edges. Maybe because I hadn't covered it up when I put it in the fridge... Anyway, it still tastes good! As for the filling - well, it's a lot better tasting than it sounds!! I wish I had chopped my cherries up small so there wasn't just huge chunks of cherries everywhere, but all in all, it was fucking delicious! A sweet custardy taste :)
I topped each slice with vanilla ice cream, et voila!!!
Also, on Saturday, I made a nice supper for my son and mother-in-law (I forgot to get my camera out and take a picture, I was so excited!!)
I was talking to my mom on the phone, and she mentioned that they were having pork chops for supper. Well, there we go. My supper decision was made! Now, I rarely ever have pork chops, but I do have pork sirloin in my freezer, which I slice into "chops".
I decided to make breaded pork chops and mashed potatoes, topped with gravy, sauteed mushrooms and peppers, and green and yellow beans. O.M.G. The pork chops were to die for!! They were tender and juicy and cooked (in my opinion) to perfection! I still have on left in my fridge, which I think I may take for lunch tomorrow (if my fiancee doesn't sneak it first).
Yesterday, I had the day off from cooking! Yay! Normally, I'm not a huge fan of taking time off from cooking to let the man do it, because he's rather bland when it comes to spices. But I'm pleased to say he did a wonderful job on the bbq chicken! I think I may be rubbing off on him :)
Happy cooking!!!
