Role Reversal

Anything you can do, I can do better.  I can do anything better than you.  "No you can't"; "Yes I can".

These are my boys.  Aren't they adorable?  Last night, Andrew (my son) was getting sick and tired of listening to his dad sniffle...  And Dad wouldn't go blow his nose!  So Andrew (he's mighty serious), got up grabbed a Kleenex and put it over Chris' nose and said "Blow!"  So I had to capture the moment, naturally!

Which brings me to the thought of role reversal.  I mean, really, who determines what the roles are for each member in the household?  Historically, the man works and fixes stuff, the woman cooks, cleans, and takes care of the children, and the children go to school and just be kids.

Hmm...  I wish things were still that simple.

In my house, I fix things, and I love it.  Chris does the cooking, when he's home.  He does the laundry (not usually folding, I like that done a certain way), and he helps with the cleaning.  We both work full-time, he more that full-time.  Andrew goes to school, but he also helps out with chores, cooking, and other things.

I think it's really good to teach Andrew that just because it's considered a "man's job" doesn't necessarily mean that only a man can do it.  I fart and burp like the boys, why can't I put together a desk?  Or paint a wall?

What are your thoughts?  Is there anything you do in your house that would NORMALLY be done by a member of the opposite sex?
