You know, I am trying this whole positivity outlook thing. But sometimes, just sometimes, you need to let out a little steam. And sometimes, just sometimes, it will make you a better person. So instead of taking it out on the people who are doing these incredibly annoying, wasteful, idioditic, and frankly, illegal things, I will write about it. But first, I must close the window, because I am cold.
There. Now that the window is closed, let's get into it...
I work in an industry that is very... well, hard. I work with disability parking. And sometimes it's really hard to approve certain applications for disability parking, because to me, they don't qualify. Like the university students who come in to apply, just because the university changed their criterion for their disability parking. Or the 10 month old baby who's mother comes in to apply. Like, if that child were 5 or 6 years old, it would be different. But why should a 10 month old baby need it? Just like all 10 month old babies, they are still in strollers. ALL. It's not like a 10 month old baby needs to be in a wheelchair. Or needs the extra space to get their crutches out. It's a 10 month old baby! It just so happens that I know this 10 month old baby, and her mother, and I guess it just makes it harder. It just pisses me off, because there are people in wheelchairs or breathing problems or who are just plain elderly that NEED those spaces, and by her having this permit, she is taking the space away from someone who needs it. More than her. Or there are people who STEAL these permits. Or "borrow" them from their family members. I'm sorry, but if you are running in high heels, you clearly don't need a parking permit. It's obviously someone else's. OR the people who actually ALTER the doctor's information!!! That's just SICK. Changing a 3 to an 8, just so you can get the permit for 5 more months. Ugh... I guess it's from working in collections, my not trusting anyone, but come on! Don't be a fucking idiot! It was clear that the number was altered!!! It's just really hard to trust people, you know? Sometimes, I just want to be like, "Do you REALLY need this?" There are only so many handicapped parking spaces out there. Not EVERYONE can park in them, obviously.
Anyway, on to the next one - wastefulness. So, I get mail from other branches in daily. Sticky notes all over everything, although helpful, are NOT needed. I can SEE that the application hasn't yet been processed. You don't need a sticky note saying that. Please, do not staple the old permits to the application. Not only is it a waste of staples, it is a waste of time. It is NOT easy getting those staples out without ripping the application. PLEASE. Do NOT staple the permit to the application. Thank you.
Another thing... We work in an OFFICE. A PROFESSIONAL BUILDING. We have clients coming and going quite often. We don't need to hear your blaring heavy metal for all to hear. I'm pretty sure the clients don't appreciate it. I know I don't appreciate it. I turn my music low enough that no one else can hear it, especially if there are other people in the office, and I would hope that you would have the same respect for me. Thank GOD we won't be sharing an office soon. THREE MORE MONTHS-ISH. That will be the best Christmas gift ever.
OK, that's it. That's all I have! I'm done! I feel so much better now!
:D Until next time! (Probably this afternoon, when I think of something witty)
