Mmmm......... Our Lady Peace.
What a great, wait, I mean, frickin' AMAZING concert!
I am sick right now, with a head cold, but it was still the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed. Well, one of the most amazing things. It's a VERY close second among amazing things I have witnessed. Of course, the birth of my child, would be number one.
I could not have been happier last night at that concert. They opened with Superman's Dead. That's a great song. They played a couple other songs, then they played 4AM. Frick, that song has so much emotion in it for me, I cried. I just closed my eyes, listened to Raine and the band play the song, and cried. After that song (which was their fifth of the night), I could have left and died happy. I could have left and it would have all been worth it. Then more songs, and then Clumsy. Then I was even happier, because this is another of my favorite songs.
There was a break after they played the "Clumsy" album in it's entirety. Then more, newer, music! Made of Steel, Life, All You Did was Save my Life, Innocent, Dreamland, oooooh, so many. Raine is amazing. He brought this little 8-year-old girl (well, she looked that age, anyway) up on stage, wished her a happy birthday, and gave her a kiss on the cheek! What a sweetheart! Then he went out in the crowd and sang the last verse of All You Did was Save my Life. They then said goodnight, went off stage (the drummer throwing his sticks into the crowd), and came back a couple minutes later for a frickin' encore!
Despite getting stuck in the "old fogees" section, aside from the two high or drunk guys that were in front of us, and getting stuck in front of a couple of kickers with big boots of, the concert was amazing. These guys sound amazing on CD, but are way better in concert. The energy in the place was amazing. I just... I'm at a loss for words. I may have a new-found love of Our Lady Peace.
Another highlight that I forgot to mention above is his speech prior to Paper Moon. He said Saskatchewan has the most beautiful moon, and wrote the song about our moon.

StarPhoenix review of OLP at TCU Place
Life itself just wears you out, but
You keep getting ready for the big parade
Ah you shine your shoes and you fake a smile
Salute the players with that famous style, cause
Keepin up has kept you in chains
I was thinking that if you know a way out then I'd like to go with you
And we can burn out like candles under that paper moon
They just dont know anything at all
They just dont know anything at all
Youll fight traffic jams and big TVs, and
Hipsters trapped in their own irony, but
Youll finally think about settling down
Oh you quit your job and you sell your car
Youll burn your clothes and pray to the stars, cause
You swore to God that youd never end up this way
I was thinking that if you know a way out then I'd like to go with you
And we can burn out like candles under that paper moon
They just dont know anything at all
They just dont know anything at all
At all
At all
At all
At all
Comes a time when you get turned around, and
Life itself just wears you out, but
You keep getting ready for the big parade
